If you’re a 90’s kid, then your favorite couple was Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence on “Boy Meets World.”
It has been announced that the two childhood stars, Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel, will be reclaiming their roles for the sequel series “Girl Meets World” on Disney Channel.
Fishel didn’t shy away from her excitement. She tweeted on Saturday, “Just want you guys to know that @BenSavage and I have talked and we’ve decided…Thanksgiving is going to be delicious this year!”
Savage also sent out a tweet yesterday, saying “I’m going to be a father! Well, on TV at least. The ‘Boy Meets World’ sequel is officially happening!”
“Girl Meets World” will be a spinoff of the hit ABC comedy, which will follow Topanga and Cory’s 13-year old daughter, Riley.
Despite doubts that the show won’t live up to its prequel’s expectations, William Russ, who formerly played Cory’s dad Alan Matthews has no doubt the show will succeed.
He told HuffPost TV that Disney and creator Michael Jacobs “are a great team and will produce an exceptional show.”
Let’s hope the best for the “Girl Meets World” pilot, but never forget the original.
