The movie was a so fetch. The sequel was a bust. What about a musical?
It has been confirmed that the 2004 flick will be headed to Broadway, courtesy of creator Tina Fey and her husband Jeff Richmond.
Richmond, who will be writing the musical numbers, tells Vulture,
“I’ve profiled Broadway folks, who are talking to us about it. It’s a long process…we watch Smash, so we know how it works! It’s all just laid out structure-wise right now. That’s how early we are. Because you have to take a three-act structure and turn it into a two-act structure and start thinking about it like that, and we’re working! “
Fey actually had the idea in 2007, when she had mentioned, “I thought the movie in some ways mostly appealed to young girls and gay men, and I feel like that could be a recipe for success on Broadway.”
While it sounds good in theory, we can’t help but wonder how this is going to unfold.
And more importantly, who’s going to star in it?! No one can beat the frenemy chemistry between Rachel McAdams and Lindsay Lohan! Or can they?
We guess you’ll have to stay tuned…
