Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey leave “Idol”

They may have had their share of disagreements, but it looks like the dueling divas of American Idol can agree on one thing: their time together is done.

Almost a month after Veteran Randy Jackson announced his departure from the hit Fox show, Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey both confirmed that they will be leaving the show to focus on their music career.

FremantleMedia, Fox and Idol producer made a statement that “Minaj was ‘a superstar who brought a level of honesty and passion’ to the show and that Carey ‘will remain an inspiration to…hopefuls for many seasons to come.'”

So who will join rookie judge Keith Urban for season 13? We’d like to see Katy Perry, or Rihanna, but it looks like we’ll have to wait and see.

Philip Seymour Hoffman enters rehab

Philip Seymour Hoffman

After a 23-year struggle staying clean, Philip Seymour Hoffman had hopped off the band wagon a little more than a year ago.

The actor, who had previously been taking prescription pills, began snorting heroin for only a week when he decided to check himself into an East Coast detox facility.

A source told E! News, “He recognized it and took care of it.” “He’s doing well and back to work.”

Hoffman, who checked out from rehab last Friday after a 10-day stint, will appear in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire this November.

Hanson releases brand of beer

So if you can’t maintain a successful singing career…you create a brand of beer? That’s what Hanson did.

They’re new brew, MmmHops (a pun off their 1997 hit MmmBop) was confirmed by drummer Zac Hanson on the Internet. He stated, “A branded HANSON IPA beer concept…has been brewing for sometime.”

On Tuesday, the band tweeted that the first round of MmmHops was being cracked open at the Hangover III premiere.

So will this beer be as good as the one-time successful boyband? We MmmHope so!

Paris Hilton is a gangster?

Paris Hilton

Apparently, Birdman thinks so. Last night the head of Cash Money Records tweeted that Paris Hilton had joined the hip hop family aside Drake, Lil Wayne, and Nicki Minaj.

Hilton, whose last album was released in 2006, told Showbiz 411 “This is a lot different than my first album.” “It’s really going to be house music.”

While her album is said to be released this summer, above is a song she released with Lil Wayne last year. “Last Night” was produced with YMCMB as a collaboration before the artist was signed.

Birdman told RapFix, “A lot of business we do don’t necessarily have to be about money, it’s about relationships and this is about people that we have relationships with.”

Looks like we underestimated Hilton yet again. She will never be able to live the “Simple Life.”

Nick Carter writes a memoir

The In a World Like This tour isn’t the only place where Nick Carter plans on being in the spotlight.

According to ABC News, Carter’s memoir Facing the Music and Living to Talk About It will be on the shelves September 24 through Bird Street Books.

The autobiographical and self-help book will include Carter’s teenage struggles in the Backstreet Boys, as well as his battle with substance and alcohol abuse and his family problems. His younger sister Leslie also battled with substance abuse and passed away last year.

One person who has stuck by his side has been Carter’s fiancé Lauren Kitt. The two were in talks for their own reality show, no sources have confirmed the news.

Sorry Howie, Brian, AJ, and Kevin, but Nick has always been our favorite Backstreet Boy. And this memoir will only make us love him more.

Backstreet’s back, ALRIGHT!

Backstreet Boys

IT’S OFFICIAL! The 90’s kings of pop are returning on their own!

In the wake of their (can it be?) 20th anniversary and induction into the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Backstreet Boys will be releasing their sixth album as a whole, “In a World Like This” on July 30th. Their first single, the title track, will be out June 25th.

Just yesterday they premiered their first song off the album, “Permanent Stain” on Good Morning America and announced they will be kicking off their North American tour August 2nd in Chicago (ahhh!)

Bill Hader says goodbye to SNL

First Kristen Wiig, then Seth Meyers, and now Bill Hader? Is someone passing around the Saturday Night Live haterade?

After eight years with the show, Hader told The New York Times, “It got to a point where I said, ‘Maybe it’s just time to go.”

The Emmy-nominated funnyman’s last show will be Saturday night and will be hosted by Ben Affleck and Kanye West.

As for the rest of the cast, executive producer Lorne Michaels says Fred Armisen and Jason Sudeikis are also considering leaving.

“You never keep anybody there who doesn’t want to be there, and there is a right time to leave, but it’s more about where they are in their lives.”

SNL has been bringing the laughs since 1975; we just hope it won’t be coming to an end anytime soon.

Angelina Jolie takes preventative measures

Angelina Jolie

Now that’s what we call thinking ahead.

Oscar-winning, philanthropist, mother of six, and wife of sexy man Brad Pitt has told New York Times that she underwent a double mastectomy after being told she had an 87 percent chance of contracting breast cancer.

Jolie told the paper, “We knew this was the right thing to do for our family and that it would bring us closer. And it has.”

“I choose not to keep my story private because there are many women who do not know that they might be living under the shadow of cancer,” she continued. And because of her decision, her chance of having breast cancer has gone down to “under five percent.”

Jolie has also revealed she has about a 50 percent chance of developing ovarian cancer, the disease that killed her mother, Marcheline Bertrandat age 56.

However, because the breasts included a more complex procedure, she began with that surgery and will go from there.

“Cancer is still a word that strikes fear into people’s hearts, producing a deep sense of powerlessness. But today it is possible to find out through a blood test whether you are highly susceptible to breast and ovarian cancer, and then take action.”

And we’re sure women all over will be thanking Angelina Jolie.

Just when you thought the show couldn’t get any better…director Ryan Murphy added not one but TWO leading ladies to season three of FX’s American Horror Story.

Murphy tweeted today,

Details on their characters have yet to be revealed, but Murphy did mention that three characters would be playing “real people” in season three.

Bassett and LuPone join fellow newcomers, Kathy Bates and Gabourey Sidibe, as well as returning cast members Jessica Lange, Evan Peters, Lily Rabe, Frances Conroy, Sarah Paulson and Taissa Farmiga.

“Coven” is currently filming in New Orleans. The season will premiere in October.
