Now this might be the best news ever!
The Roundabout Theater Company announced Wednesday that the ultra-fab triple threat Michelle Williams will star in their revival of John Kander and Fred Ebb’s popular musical Cabaret playing Sally Bowles, a role that made Liza Minnelli a household name and Oscar winning actress in Bob Fosse’s 1972 film.
The actress will be joining actor Alan Cumming, who will be reprising his role as the cabaret M.C., which won him a Tony in the 1998 revival on Broadway.
When asked about performing in a musical last year, Williams told Inquirer Entertainment, “What’s so liberating about singing and dancing is that it turns your head. You coast on this wave of muscle memory. You literally can’t think while you’re performing. There’s a kind of transcendence to it.”
And we have no doubt transcendent is what the show will be. Previews begin March 21 and opening night is April 24.
