“It’s possible” for Keke Palmer to have THE GREATEST YEAR EVER! Before even being able to legally drink (her 21st birthday is August 26th,) the singer/actress has made history by becoming the youngest daytime host in TV history (her BET show Just Keke debuts September 9th) and now she’s making history again as she sweeps her way to Broadway in Cinderella.
Palmer will be the first African American actress to play Cinderella on Broadway. Her predecessors include Cindy Paige Faure and “Call Me Maybe” singer Carly Rae Jepsen.
I personally think this is a brilliant decision on Broadway’s part. After all, the original Rodger’s and Hammerstein’s Cinderella was played by singer Brandy, who has always been an idol to Keke Palmer. During a recent interview,Palmer said,
“In me doing this, it shows everybody that everything is possible.”
Besides the fact that it’s about damn time an African American Cinderella takes the stage, the girl is insanely talented. Over the years, she has launched a successful music career as well as keeping steady acting gigs, including recent appearances on Showtime’s Sunday hit Masters of Sex.
I’m embarrassed to say I live in New York and have not yet seen Cinderella on Broadway, but in my opinion, if Carly Rae Jepsen can impress an audience eight times a week, then Keke Palmer sure as hell can.
What do you think? Will she knock us out of our glass slippers or leave us hoping midnight comes sooner?
