Mr. and Mrs. Smith? You mean Mr. and Mrs. Pitt! The two were (finally) married at the Château Miraval in the village of Correns, France this past Saturday, where they had been staying at and renovating since 2008.
Last month, a source told E! News, “It’ll be a lovely celebration to start life in the new house…They want to marry there at that house and celebrate how far they’ve come as a family, as a couple, and individually in just 10 years.”
The private ceremony was less than traditional, as most of the Hollywood couple’s relationship has been. Instead of being walked down the aisle with her estranged father, Jon Voight, Jolie got the whole Brady Bunch involved. She was attended by sons Maddox 13, and Pax, 10 while Zahara, 9, and Vivienne, 6, threw petals and Shiloh, 8, and Knox, 6, served as ring bearers.
The two have been engaged since 2012, but no one (except their children) were pressuring them to tie the knot.
In May, Jolie told People, “We’re just waiting for it to be the right time with the kids, with work, when it feels right.”
So it looks like it felt right. After all, the two have become significantly closer since Jolie’s 2013 mastectomy, and their work schedules have slowed since they both wrapped up their work with separate WWII dramas.
Congrats to the happy couple! First came love, then came babies, then came marriage in a fancy carriage.
