It’s Tuesday, so on a normal week, you’d just be getting over a case of the Monday’s. But this week is different. Today, for the first time since 1976, we are spending our Tuesday wrapping up the Emmy’s. This was a monumental year for TV: Breaking Bad and Mad Men ended their legacies and a transgender actor was nominated for the first time in history. So as the anticipation eats away at you, let us begin.
Drama series
My Prediction/WINNER: Breaking Bad, AMC
Downton Abbey, PBS
Game of Thrones, HBO
House of Cards, Netflix
Mad Men, AMC
True Detective, HBO
Comedy series
WINNER:Modern Family, ABC
The Big Bang Theory, CBS
Louie, FX
Orange is the New Black (Netflix)
Silicon Valley (HBO)
My Prediction: Veep (HBO)
Not that I don’t think Modern Family deserves this, in fact it’s my second favorite sitcom of all time (RIP How I Met Your Mother,) but people are LOVING Veep. I haven’t caught on to the phenomena, but I’m thinking they gave it to the vets instead of the HBO rookie because MOFY is an overall fantastic show. Not saying Veep isn’t, but let’s be honest: Julia Louis-Dreyfus runs things. Without her, that show would not be what it is.
Actor, drama series
My prediction/WINNER: Bryan Cranston, Breaking Bad (AMC)
Matthew McConaughey, True Detective (HBO)
Jeff Daniels, The Newsroom (HBO)
Woody Harrelson, True Detective (HBO)
Jon Hamm, Mad Men (AMC)

Actress, drama series
My prediction/WINNER:Julianna Margulies, The Good Wife (CBS)
Robin Wright, House of Cards(Netflix)
Lizzy Caplan, Masters of Sex (Showtime)
Claire Danes, Homeland (Showtime)
Michelle Dockery, Downton Abbey (PBS)
Kerry Washington, Scandal (ABC)
Actor, comedy series
My prediction/WINNER: Jim Parsons, The Big Bang Theory (CBS)
Louis C.K., Louie (FX)
Don Cheadle, House of Lies (Showtime)
Ricky Gervais, Derek (Netflix)
Matt LeBlanc, Episodes (Showtime)
William H. Macy, Shameless (Showtime)
Actress, comedy series
WINNER: Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Veep (HBO)
Lena Dunham, Girls (HBO)
Edie Falco, Nurse Jackie (Showtime)
Melissa McCarthy, Mike & Molly (CBS)
Amy Poehler, Parks and Recreation (NBC)
My prediction: Taylor Schilling, Orange is the New Black (Netflix)
As always, this category brings it. But Julia Louis-Dreyfus is a four-time Emmy winning actress. Taylor Schilling really did get her name out there, but I personally think she would have deserved it more if she was nominated for the second season, instead of the first. And while the rest of the nominees are without a doubt hilarious, this one was a given, even if I felt a bit biased.
Supporting actor, drama series
WINNER/My prediction: Aaron Paul, Breaking Bad (AMC)
Jim Carter, Downton Abbey (PBS)
Josh Charles, The Good Wife (CBS)
Peter Dinklage, Game of Thrones (HBO)
Mandy Patinkin, Homeland (Showtime)
Jon Voight, Ray Donovan (Showtime)
Supporting actress, drama series
WINNER: Anna Gunn, Breaking Bad (AMC)
Christine Baranski, The Good Wife (CBS)
Joanne Froggatt, Downton Abbey (PBS)
Lena Headey, Game of Thrones (HBO)
My prediction: Christina Hendricks, Mad Men (AMC)
Maggie Smith, Downton Abbey (PBS)
Let me make this very clear: I LOVE Anna Gunn and believe wholeheartedly that she deserves this, but with Mad Men coming to an end this year, the academy could have thrown something her way. Luckily, she’s got two BIG awards to come home with every night.
Supporting actor, comedy series
My prediction/WINNER: Ty Burrell, Modern Family (ABC)
Andre Braugher, Brookyn Nine-Nine (Fox)
Fred Armisen, Portlandia (IFC)
Adam Driver, Girls (HBO)
Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Modern Family (HBO)
Tony Hale, Veep (HBO)
Supporting actress, comedy series
WINNER: Allison Janney, Mom (CBS)
Mayim Bialik, The Big Bang Theory (CBS)
My prediction: Julie Bowen, Modern Family (ABC)
Anna Chlumsky, Veep (HBO)
Kate McKinnon, Saturday Night Live (NBC)
Kate Mulgrew, Orange Is the New Black (Netflix)
Honestly: who watches Mom? Granted, Allison Janney is spectacular in whatever she does, but really? I would have thought Mayim Bialik would have taken it home before her, but I would have loved for Julie Bowen to win alongside her TV husband. Because who doesn’t love Phil and Claire?

Joe Morton, Scandal (ABC)

Allison Janney, Masters of Sex (Showtime)
Writing, drama series
Moira Walley-Beckett, Breaking Bad, AMC

Reality
Competition reality program
WINNER: The Amazing Race (CBS)
The Voice (NBC)
Dancing With the Stars (ABC)
Project Runway (Lifetime)
So You Think You Can Dance (Fox)
Top Chef (Bravo)
The Amazing Race was the most predictable winner here, but I still think America’s Got Talent got rigged. They totally deserved a nom, if not a win.
Reality host
WINNER: Jane Lynch, Hollywood Game Night (NBC)
Anthony Bourdain, The Taste (ABC)
Tom Bergeron, Dancing With the Stars (ABC)
Cat Deeley, So You Think You Can Dance (Fox)
My prediction: Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn, Project Runway (Lifetime)
Betty White, Off Their Rockers (NBC)
I knew I should’ve started watching Hollywood Game Night! Despite my prediction, I didn’t expect Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn to win. After all, Project Runway has been going down the stinker for quite some time, but I’m happy for Jane Lynch. She is a phenomenal comic and apparently an even better reality host.
Structured reality program
My prediction/WINNER:Shark Tank, ABC
Antiques Roadshow, PBS
Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, Food Network
Mythbusters, Discovery
Undercover Boss, CBS
Who Do You Think You Are?, TLC
Unstructured reality program
WINNER:Deadliest Catch 10, Discovery
Alaska: The Last Frontier, Discovery
Flipping Out, Bravo
Million Dollar Listing: New York, Bravo
Wahlburgers, A&E
Wild Things With Dominic Monaghan, BBC America
Unstructured reality programs are not exactly my forte, but from what I’ve heard, Deadliest Catch is what’s up.

My prediction: Billy Bob Thornton, Fargo (FX)
Chiwetel Ejiofor, Dancing on the Edge (Starz)
Idris Elba, Luther (BBC America)
Martin Freeman, Fargo (FX)
Mark Ruffalo, The Normal Heart (HBO)
I never got in to Fargo, but from what I’ve heard, this was Billy Bob’s role of a life time. And considering they killed him off in season one, I thought he would have been the without-a-doubt winner. But Benedict Cumberbatch sure is sexy…and that ALS bucket challenge of his took the cake.
Actress, miniseries or movie
My prediction/WINNER: Jessica Lange, American Horror Story: Coven (FX)
Cicely Tyson, The Trip to Bountiful (Lifetime)
Helena Bonham Carter, Burton and Taylor (BBC America)
Minnie Driver, Return to Zero (Lifetime)
Sarah Paulson, American Horror Story: Coven (FX)

My prediction: Matt Bomer, The Normal Heart (HBO)
Colin Hanks, Fargo (FX)
Joe Mantello, The Normal Heart (HBO)
Alfred Molina, The Normal Heart (HBO)
Jim Parsons, The Normal Heart (HBO)
I just thought The Normal Heart was going to sweep the awards this season but hey, Sherlock sure did make a name for itself.
Supporting actress, miniseries or movie
WINNER: Kathy Bates, American Horror Story: Coven (FX)
Angela Bassett, American Horror Story: Coven (FX)
Ellen Burstyn, Flowers in the Attic (Lifetime)
Frances Conroy, American Horror Story: Coven (FX)

I repeat: “I just thought The Normal Heart was going to sweep the awards this season,” and besides, Julia Roberts is always a winner in my eyes.
Writing, miniseries or movie
Steven Moffat, Sherlock: His Last Vow, Masterpiece/PBS
Directing, miniseries or movie
Colin Bucksey, Fargo (FX)
